BioRx Offers Scholarships to Bleeding Disorders Community

September 1, 2010 (Cincinnati, Ohio) BioRx and Hemophilia of North Carolina announce the availability of four 2011 BioRx Educational Scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each to individuals with bleeding disorders. The scholarships will be awarded for the 2011-2012 school year, and the deadline for submitting applications is May 1, 2011.
BioRx is a specialty pharmacy serving individuals with hemophilia and bleeding disorders. Hemophilia of North Carolina is a non-profit organization whose goal is to assist, involve and educate persons affected by bleeding disorders. The scholarships are funded by BioRx through an educational grant, which is administered by Hemophilia of NC, a chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation.

Established in 2004, the BioRx Educational Scholarships are intended for anyone in the country living with a bleeding disorder, including caregivers of children affected with bleeding disorders, a person who has been diagnosed with a bleeding disorder, or a sibling of a person diagnosed with a bleeding disorder. (“Bleeding disorder” is limited to clotting factor deficiency disorders, specifically: hemophilia A, B, and C; von Willebrand Disease; and factor V (parahemophilia), factor VII, factor X, and factor XIII deficiencies.)
Four individuals will receive a $2,000 scholarship toward their education. While the scholarships are available to anyone with a bleeding disorder, preference is given to applicants who are working toward completing coursework in a healthcare related field at accredited colleges or certified training programs. At least one award will go to someone studying in a health related field.
