Applesauce Spice Cake

Mix together:

1 cup applesauce
¾ c brown sugar or 1 c brown sugar if the applesauce is unsweetened
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp cloves

Sift these dry ingredients and add them to the applesauce mixture:

2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt

Add to the mixture:
½ c raisins
½ c chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)Grease a small rectangular cake pan or 9″ round pan.  Spoon batter into it.  Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.  When cool, sprinkle with confectioner’s sugar. Keeps well.
