HFA encourages people with bleeding disorders to live healthy, active lifestyles.  People with hemophilia, von Willebrand and other bleeding disorders who have strong and active bodies have less frequent and less painful bleeding episodes.

How can I be part of Gears for Good 2013?

Register to ride with us  –  Join us in Virginia as we start our 156-mile scenic ride to Washington, DC.  During this amazing experience, you will meet people from across the country as we ride together 36 miles on Friday, 60 miles on Saturday and 60 miles on Sunday.  This is an athletic event like no other in the hemophilia community.

Register as a Virtual Rider -   If you are unable to join us in Virgina in September, join us as a virtual rider!  Participate in the Gears for Good bike ride as a virtual rider and pedal as many miles as you can in your local area.  Register online, send us photos and let us share your ride with others on social media so our entire community can cheer you on every step of the way!

Organize a Local Bike Ride in your Area – Want to promote health and wellness in your community while helping HFA? Check out our guide to organizing a local bike ride in your area.  Ride as many miles as you can with your friends and family,  send us photos and comments from the ride and be part of this charity event.

Donate  HFA is proud to be an organization that assists, supports and advocates for people living with bleeding disorders.  The funds raised will directly support programs like Helping Hands, which offers assistance to families and individuals with a bleeding disorder who are temporarily struggling financially due to their bleeding disorder.

You can do it!

Yes, it helps if you are an avid rider, but you don’t have to be one to participate in this ride!  The trail from Virgina to DC is flat and slightly downhill.  There are no hills and you can keep your own pace.  Gears for Good is not a race, it’s an experience.  You can be sure that you will find someone that is at the same level as you and you will not be riding alone.  Check out what some past riders have said about the experience:

”If I can do it, you can do it!”

“I am a mom of two boys with hemophilia.  I exercise once in a while, a lot less than I would like to and I only trained about once or twice per week before the ride.  But, I finished and I am so proud of myself.  I will definitely sign up again!

“I rode with a group of amazing men for three days and they made me an honorary blood brother.  This is a true honor and I can’t wait to ride with them again next year!”

”I loved the chance to, at times, race my Blood Brothers, and enjoyed the camaraderie we developed.”
