Applications are now being accepted for a limited time for scholarships for University, Community College, and GED students. University and community college applications are due by June 8th, 2018. GED Assistance is awarded on a quarterly basis as exams are passed. Scholarship America expects to announce the scholarship recipients in July 2018.

The Education Advantage program is a comprehensive scholarship program to help people with hemophilia A or B (Factor VIII or IX deficiency), including those with inhibitors, or von Willebrand Disease (regardless of which brand of treatment they use) gain access to education and help achieve their education goals.
It is supported through a non-commercial donation from Shire and administered by Scholarship America, the nation’s leading independent scholarship program administrator. Scholarship America reviews all scholarship applications, determines eligibility, and selects the scholarship recipients. Shire has no input into the selection of recipients.
It provides financial aid for a wide variety of educational options including 4-year bachelor’s degrees, associate’s degrees, technical/vocational certifications, as well as the GED Test.
Shire has no influence over who receives a scholarship and amount. All award decisions are made independently from Shire.
What are the eligibility requirements?
Applicants must submit a complete application to Scholarship America by June 8th, 2018. The requirements vary depending on the type of scholarship.

Is this only for people using Shire products? Does an applicant need to use any Shire product or sign up for any Shire program to receive a scholarship?
No, the Education Advantage program is open to people with hemophilia A or B (Factor VIII or IX deficiency), including those with inhibitors, or von Willebrand Disease and does not require use of a specific product or that applicants sign up for any Shire program.
