HFA Scholarship Application Guidelines Download Guidelines in PDF Format Educational Scholarship: Educational scholarships will be offered in the amount of $1,500.00 each. All recipients are invited to reapply in subsequent years for renewal as long as they are in good academic standing. This renewal will not be automatic, as each year’s applicants will be independently weighed. Eligibility Requirements for Education Scholarships: - A person with hemophilia or von Willebrand Disease
- Seeking a post-secondary education either from a college, university or trade school
- Able to demonstrate his/her commitment to improving the quality of their life by pursuing his/her goals with determination
Artistic Encouragement Grant: A grant will be offered in the amount of $1,500.00 for use in artistic encouragement. This can be used for mounting an exhibition of one’s work, (i.e. Photography, painting /watercolor animation, etc.), publishing a story/ book or animation, writing a play, having a recital or any kind of creative endeavor. Eligibility Requirements for Artistic Encouragement Grant: - A person with hemophilia or von Willebrand Disease

- Able to demonstrate his/her commitment to improving the quality of their life by pursuing his/her goals with determination
Parent Continuing Education: Scholarship will be offered in the amount of $1,500.00 to a parent of a child with a hemophilia or von Willebrand Disease. The scholarship will be used for furthering the parent’s education. Eligibility Requirements for Parent Continuing Education Scholarship: - Must be a parent of a child with hemophilia or von Willebrand Disease

Sibling Continuing Education: Scholarships will be offered in the amount of $1,500.00 to the sibling of a person with hemophilia or von Willebrand Disease. Eligibility Requirements for Sibling Continuing Education Scholarship: - Must be a sibling of a person with a hemophilia or von Willebrand Disease

Application Requirements: Please submit the following materials for Educational, Parent and Sibling scholarships: - Completed application
- Essay
- Proof of academic standing
- Statement of financial need and parents previous years tax return (if applicant is a dependent, otherwise the applicant's tax return)
- Proof of enrollment
- Two letters of reference (one professional reference the other from HTC or Physician)
Please submit the following for the Artistic Encouragement grant: - Completed application
- Samples of work/portfolio
- Explain the purpose for the use of the grant and supply an outline/time frame for the completion of the project, and what you expect to get out of it and how it will help you in the future with you artwork
- Statement of financial need and parents previous years tax return (if applicant is a dependent, otherwise the applicant's tax return)
- Two letters of reference (one professional reference the other from HTC or Physician)
The scholarships granted under this fund are determined by the scholarship committee of HFA. All decisions made by the committee are final. Recipients will be notified of the outcome by the scholarship committee by mail. Any information submitted with this application will become the property of HFA. You are required to submit proof of registration if you are selected for a scholarship. All information contained in this application will be utilized in the determination of each scholarship winner. A personal interview may be required at the discretion of the scholarship committee, and may be done by one or more committee members. HFA reserves the right to distribute scholarship funding at its own discretion. The applications for the annual scholarships will be available online at www.hemophiliafed.org under education on January 1st, and must be completed in full, and post marked no later than April 30th. All scholarship and grant award recipients will be notified no later than June 1st prior to the beginning of the fall semester. If attending courses or school that do not initiate in the fall semester then the application must be completed in full and submitted to the scholarship committee no later than 90 days prior to the first official day of the course. If you are awarded a scholarship, you must submit a current photograph and the information on the school you will be attending to the Hemophilia Federation office by July 31st.
