François is a financial economist by training and has had a career essentially in academics and model risk management consulting. He has been involved at various levels for almost two decades in the bleeding disorders community advocacy in New York through the New York State Bleeding Disorders Coalition (NYBDC), New York City Hemophilia Chapter (NYCHC), and Hemophilia Association of New York (HANY).
Over the past two decades, the combination of methods and techniques to collect and to process patients’ medical information and advancements in scientific research, has led to a significant positive evolution of the landscape of bleeding disorders treatment and treatment options. At the same time somehow, there still exist lots of demographic/economic/geographic areas of desert in terms of treatment access and even diagnosis access in the country.
Having the honor to serve on the HFA board for me during such a period of fast-paced changing scientific and technological environment is also an opportunity to take active part and to contribute to the conversation about its impact on the way forward on advocacy for the bleeding disorders community nationwide.
