About Steve
Steve was President of the Brookland-Bush Hill Civic Association and of the Hemophilia Association of the Capital Area (HACA) in the past. He served in numerous roles in US Adult Soccer (USASA) at league, state, and national levels and still coaches and referees at age 77. All the above provide great experience in human relations. His US Air Force experience was in many roles with a focus on long range planning and crisis management. The former mitigates or prevents the latter. Steve brings his skills to help HFA through the ongoing transition. He brings years of leadership and experience with an understanding of team development and individual development of members by mentoring. He loves bringing together people who can work collegially to advance the bleeding disorders cause.
What drives you to serve on the HFA Board?
I wish to bring years of problem solving and my Air Force experience in developing people and planning to keep HFA strong as we live in interesting times.
Do you have a favorite quote or words to live by?
Have Fun. Fun is doing something important and/or difficult well. Plan for Flexibility. Whatever you plan for is not likely to happen as expected. Consider various probabilities and anticipate possible responses.
What do you do to truly relax?
Coach and referee soccer too old to play!
Is there something unique that most people don’t know about you?
Diagnosed after serving 7 years, I was allowed to stay in. My pension allows me to pursue my advocacy for bleeding disorders full time.
