Medicare Coverage for Bleeding Disorders Care
This webinar will provide a practical, patient-centered overview of how Medicare works for people with bleeding disorders and their families. The session will cover the basic structure of the Medicare program, key differences between Traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage, and how those differences can affect access to specialty care, prescription drugs, and out-of-network providers. Attendees will learn what to watch for when enrolling or switching coverage, including network limitations, prior authorization requirements, and cost-sharing, and how to ask the right questions before choosing a plan. The session will also explore policy changes that could strengthen Medicare’s ability to meet the needs of people with bleeding disorders and improve affordability, access, and continuity of care.

Rachel Madley, PhDRachel Madley, PhD (she/her/hers) is the Executive Director at the Center for Health and Democracy. She previously worked as health policy advisor to Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal and in the legislative affairs office at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Rachel received her PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from Columbia University where she was also a member of the executive board of Students for a National Health Program and Physicians for a National Health Program. She received her Bachelor of Science with honors from the University of Michigan. Her work has been widely published in outlets including The New York Times, Business Insider, and Newsweek.
