Next Steps: Advocacy Network Organizing Call

We’re inviting you to participate in the next steps in our fight to protect the bleeding disorders community. Join HFA’s Advocacy Network Organizing Call on Wednesday, April 30th at 6:30 PM ET.

This call is not just an update, it’s a chance to regroup, reflect, and gear up for action ahead of a critical congressional hearing and in response to ongoing threats that put our community at risk. You’ll hear directly from advocates who took action during spring recess visits—what worked, what they learned, and how we can keep pushing forward.

Right now, Congress is considering cuts to Medicaid and Marketplace subsidies—programs that ensure affordable, consistent access to treatment for people with bleeding disorders. These programs are not optional—they are lifelines.

On May 7, the House Energy and Commerce Committee will begin reviewing its share of the Republican reconciliation package, which calls for $880 billion in savings, including deep cuts to Medicaid and Marketplace subsidies.

And that’s not all: we’re also continuing to fight against reductions in staffing at the CDC’s Division of Blood Disorders—a crucial public health resource for our community. These cuts threaten the surveillance, education, and prevention efforts that protect people with bleeding disorders nationwide.

The stakes are immediate and real. We’ve seen what happens when care becomes unaffordable or when government inaction fails our community. We cannot let history repeat itself.

This isn’t about politics—it’s about protecting people, preserving access, and making sure our voices are heard. Join us to organize, strategize, and take action.
