Dear HFA Members,

As the Chairman of the Board, I welcome you to this edition of Dateline with great pride. Our association stands as a beacon of advocacy, representing the collective voice and interests of the bleeding disorders community for over 30 years. This year has been a remarkable journey for us.

Together, we have navigated through challenges and celebrated significant milestones that have furthered our mission. I recently had the privilege of joining HFA staff and volunteers at our Blood Brotherhood and Blood Sisterhood and Young Adult Advocacy Summit dinner in Washington, DC. There was an obvious camaraderie and electricity in the room, led by our Vice President of Advocacy and her team.

Community members from all over the country joined to share their stories with legislators, personalizing the needs of our greater community. Our association’s strength lies in our commitment to advocating and educating others so people affected by bleeding disorders can thrive.

As we look ahead, we remain focused on delivering HFA programs, ensuring that our collective voice continues to resonate where it matters most. Your contributions are not just appreciated, but they are the cornerstone of our success. I am confident that together, we will provide great support to new and experienced community members alike.

Your support is what makes us who we are, and for that, I am truly grateful. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your continued support and active participation in HFA. This past April in Indianapolis, our CEO Dan Kelsey and I met with HFA past leaders and were able to gain and share perspective on our past, present, and future.

Advancements in therapies for people with bleeding disorders mean that HFA now supports more generations than at any other time in our history. HFA remains committed to delivering programming to support our community’s diverse needs, honoring our past, and looking forward to continued progress. I encourage you to read on and explore the insightful content curated by our dedicated staff.

May it spark conversation, inspire action, and reinforce our commitment to you. Finally, I eagerly look forward to seeing each of you at Symposium in 2025 in San Diego, where we can celebrate our community and chart our path forward together.

The future is bright, and I can’t wait to see what we will achieve together.

Warm regards,

Luke Runion, Chairman of the Board HFA
