Hemophilia Federation of America is a national nonprofit organization that assists, educates and advocates for the bleeding disorders community.
I attended the Louisiana Step Therapy Coalition meeting to plan support for Louisiana House Bill 263 that ensure protections against step therapy for a multitude of health conditions. Our first meeting was pre-covid, so it was an in-person meeting. There were multiple representatives present, including doctors, patient advocates, lobbyists, and local healthcare organizations. All of these stakeholders worked together to get the bill sponsored and supported. We met multiple times after that via conference call, as the coronavirus made meeting in person impossible. The coalition was successful in its efforts, as HB 263 was signed into law as Act 181 by the Louisiana governor, Jon Bel Edwards.
