HFA Education Manager Highlights Bleeding Disorders Awareness in Texas

Hemophilia Federation of America Education Manager Dr. Robyn Ford Kebede brought awareness of bleeding disorders to the Harris County Commissioners Court in Texas on April 9, 2026. 

Invited by Michelle Holt of Precinct 4 from the office of Commissioner Lesley Briones, Kebede spoke as part of the county’s recognition of World Hemophilia Day, observed annually on April 17. The day is dedicated to raising awareness about bleeding disorders worldwide and in local communities like Harris County. 

As a Harris County resident and public health advocate, Dr. Ford Kebede works to educate individuals across the country about bleeding disorders—particularly among women, who are often underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed. Through her role at HFA, she helps bring greater visibility to conditions that frequently go unrecognized. 

“I am proud to represent HFA here in my own county, and grateful for the opportunity by Commissioner Briones for using this platform to raise awareness for special conditions, such as bleeding disorders,” said Kebede, DrPH, MPH, CHES.  

By participating in local efforts like this, HFA continues to expand awareness and understanding of bleeding disorders, helping more people recognize symptoms, seek proper diagnoses and access care. While many bleeding disorders are inherited, increasing awareness benefits anyone who deserves equitable access to health care.
