Proper nutrition, combined with safe and effective exercise, is important for everybody. HFA鈥檚 health and wellness program, FitFactor聽offers services designed to help those living with a bleeding disorder improve health, fitness, and quality of life through regular physical activity and proper nutrition.

This toolkit is a highlight of some of the resources within the FitFactor program. Included are:

NHF_lmage NHF: The National Hemophilia Foundation (NHF) is dedicated to finding better treatments and cures for inheritable bleeding disorders and to preventing the complications of these disorders through education, advocacy and research. The following is a brochure developed by the Physical Therapist Working Group of the NHF.



gearsforgood_logo-2 Gears for Good Bike Rides: Dedicated to encouraging and promoting a healthier lifestyle, these rides are designed to be challenging. They celebrate the dedication to health and wellness for those who work hard to achieve beyond their disorder! The riders raise money knowing that the funds they raise support a critical safety net program for other community peers: Helping Hands! In its 6th year, the DC ride is the most challenging, 3 days, 156 miles on a crushed rock trail. Two additional rides of 1-2 days each in New England and a Midwest or Western location are also planned for 2016.

presidentscouncilonfitness President鈥檚 Council on Fitness: The President鈥檚 Council engages, educates, and empowers all Americans to adopt a healthy lifestyle that includes regular physical activity and good nutrition. The President鈥檚 Council is made up of athletes, chefs, physicians, fitness professionals, and educators who are appointed by the President and serve in an advisory capacity through the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
PhysicalActivityGuide The Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans (PAG) are an essential resource for health professional and policymakers. Based on the latest science, they provide guidance on how children and adults can improve their health through physical activity. Learn ways to help consumers understand the benefits of physical activity and how to make it a part of their regular routine.

HFA’s Learning Central: One of the ways you can learn about bleeding disorders is to educate yourself with medically-vetted, accurate information, like the educational information found in HFA’s Learning Central e-learning platform.
