Some of us love exercise. Some of us (me!) hate it but love it when you’re done. What do you find to be the hardest part of exercising? A lot of times it’s finding the time. As moms we’re pulled in a thousand different directions all throughout the day. Between jobs, kids, and spouses, there is never a shortage of things to do. And quite often they’re all important and there are obviously only so many hours in a day. For me, exercise is the easiest thing to drop off the list when I’m running low on time (or energy!).
I’ve had this conversation numerous times with my own mother. She reminds me that there are a lot of people counting on me. She always asks me, “Aren’t you important enough to take 30 minutes for yourself?” And she’s right!! But I tend to forget that – as I know a lot of us moms do. But it’s so true. We are important enough to take time for ourselves. All of those people that count on us need us to be healthy and happy.
Whether it’s exercise, reading, 30 minutes of quiet time, etc… take the time and make you a priority for a few minutes. I know this is often easier said than done, but I think we feel so much better and refreshed when we spend a little bit every day doing something good for ourselves. As a result, I think that makes us even better for our kids.
Speaking of exercise… I can’t pass up the opportunity to tell you about HFA’s selection as an official charity partner for the Marine Corp Marathon held in Washington, DC on October 28. HFA was selected to fill one of only a few new charity partner spots and we couldn’t be more excited. There are several ways you can support HFA with this event:
- RUN!!We have 50 guaranteed entries for the marathon and 20 for the 10K. This event will sell out so these guaranteed entry spots are sure to go quick. If you or someone you know is interested in running, please pass them our way.
- Volunteer! There will be lots of volunteer opportunities if you are interested or just come and cheer on our runners and be a part of the fun.
- Donate! You will soon start seeing runner’s donation pages popping up on social media and in emails. We want this to be the first of many successful Marine Corp Marathons for HFA.
Have a great day and make yourself a priority!!
