Hemophilia Federation of America is appalled by the recent violence at the United States Capitol. Each time our community has visited the Capitol to advocate on behalf of bleeding disorders, it has been an honor and a privilege to be a part of the democratic process set forth in the Constitution. However, the events showed a blatant disregard for due process and an intolerable lack of respect for others. Four words from the Pledge of Allegiance came to mind as we watched the events unfold and grasped the racial inequity: 鈥渁nd justice for all.鈥 Those four words signify fairness, equality, and that all voices and opinions matter. As an advocacy organization, we are resolute in our commitment to create a just and equitable environment where all voices are heard with dignity and respect.

We must remember to give ourselves and our loved ones the mental space to grapple with what our country experienced. Be patient with each other; kindness and good faith will achieve a better tomorrow. We are here for you.
