HFA Symposium Frequently Asked Questions

Below is a list of questions we often get about Symposium. If you have a question that is not on this list, please reach out to us at symposium@hemophiliafed.org or (202) 675-6984.

General Questions

  1. How much does registration cost?
    Registration is $45/adult (18 years+) and $5/day per child/teen (under 18 years).
  2. Can I register first and pay later?
    Unfortunately, no – you must pay when you register online.
  3. Can I pay my registration over the phone?
    Unfortunately, no – you must pay when you register online.
  4. Can I register on-site?
    Yes, we allow on-site registration for adults only; children/teens must be registered online in advance.
  5. What payments do you take on-site?
    We take checks, credit/debit cards, and cash on-site.
  6. Are meals included in my registration?
    Yes, meals are included. You can view meal times when the agenda is available.
  7. Where can I infuse if I needto?
    We will have a Health Room & Infusion Suite on-site – the exact location will be available in the agenda. The suite is open each day of the conference (Thur-Sat) and managed by a registered nurse.
  8. Do you have a Sharps Container?
    Yes, we will have a Sharps Container available at the Health Room & Infusion Suite if you need a safe place to dispose of used needles. Otherwise, please dispose of your needles properly and do not throw them in the trash.
  9. Do you have a mobile app?
    Yes, our Symposium mobile app will be available on both Google Play and the Apple Store. Instructions on the name and how to download will be available as we get closer to the conference.
  10. Do you provide Speaker information/materials after the conference?
    Unfortunately, no we don’t.
  11. What time is check-in and check-out for the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor Hotel?
    Check-in is at 4:00pm and check-out is at 11:00am.聽These times are subject to change, please check the hotel’s website as well.

Questions About the Agenda

  1. When does Symposium begin?
    Symposium begins with a sponsored brunch at 10:00am on Thursday, April 23. This is followed by a welcome session and the Thursday Tracks.
  2. When does Symposium end?
    Symposium ends after a sponsored breakfast on Sunday, April 26.
  3. Is there an agenda/program?
    Yes, a draft agenda will be available in early 2020. As we get closer to the conference, we will post a more comprehensive version.
  4. When is the Exhibit Hall open?
    The Exhibit Hall is open during the following days and times:

    • Thursday, April 23: 5:00 pm-7:00 pm
    • Friday, April 24: 9:00 am-10:30 am and 5:00 pm-7:00 pm
    • Saturday, April 25: 12:00 pm-1:30 pm

     

  5. What are the Thursday Tracks?
    During Thursday afternoon, we offer 5 specialized tracks for our attendees to choose from. More information for each track is available in the registration form.聽
    Those tracks are:

– von Willebrand Disease (vWD) Track
– Rare Bleeding Disorders Track
– Hemophilia Track
– Spanish Track/Sesiones en Espa帽ol
– Inhibitor Track – Only for those currently dealing with an inhibitor.

Questions About Child/Teen Registration

  1. Where can I find more information about the Children/Teen Programs?

  2. Can I register my child on-site?
    No, we do not allow child or teens to be registered on-site. Our caregiver ratios are determined by the number of children/teens registered ahead of time.
  3. How much does child registration cost?
    Registration is $5/day per child or teen ($15 for all three days). You will be able to choose which days that your child will participate in the program within the online registration form.
  4. Are meals included?
    Yes, meals are included with your child’s registration for whichever day they are registered for.

Questions About Final Night Event

  1. Where will the Final Night Event be held?
    Our Final Night Event will be held at the Maryland Science Center near the harbor.
  2. Will transportation be provided?
    Yes, transportation will be provided to and from the event. However, attendees are also welcome to walk to and from the hotel as well.
  3. How far away is the venue?
    The Science Center is about a 3-minute drive or a 15 minute walk (along the harbor).
  4. How long does Final Night last?
    Final Night Event is usually about 3 hours long and food is included.

Questions About Symposium Scholarships

  1. Do you offer scholarships for symposium?
    Yes, we offer 2 scholarships for聽hotel:聽the General HFA Scholarship and the Inhibitor Track Scholarship.

    • How do I apply?
      To apply, you must register for Symposium first and a link to the scholarship will be found in your confirmation email.
    • What does the scholarship include?
      The General HFA Scholarship is for one (1) hotel room for up to three (3) nights. The Inhibitor Track Scholarship is for one (1) room up to four (4) nights. Any additional nights or rooms are on the attendee’s own.
    • How many can apply for the scholarship?
      Up to 4 individuals (4 adults or a family) may be included in the scholarship application.

  2. Do scholarships cover registration fees?
    No, neither of our scholarships will cover the registration fees.
  3. Do you offer scholarship for flights/any travel?
    No, unfortunately, we do not.
  4. Are there any other scholarships/assistance available?
    You can reach out to your local chapter and ask if they are able to offer assistance. To find out who your local chapter is, please search for them here.
  5. When does the application open?
    The application opens at the same time as registration.
