Lori Long

Institute Director

Lori is HFA’s Institute Director. She founded and built Learning Central and continues to develop and add content. She firmly believes that knowledge is power—the power to ensure shared decision-making between healthcare providers and patients.

Lori has a 25-year background in project management, technical communications, editing, writing, graphics production, and instructional design. She has a B.S. in Signed Language Interpreting and Professional Writing with a Technical Complement.

Lori has hemophilia B and a son with hemophilia B. She served as the President of the board for Sangre de Oro (SDO), New Mexico’s bleeding disorders foundation, and acted as SDO’s Executive Director for about three years. She also served on the HFA board as a board member and as the Board Secretary.

Lori’s greatest passion is raising awareness for her blood sisters to get diagnosed and treated earlier in life—before too much damage is done to their bodies.

Lori enjoys crafting, including working with vinyl and paper, sewing, herbalism, and gardening. Her favorite “sport” is listening to her husband sing and play guitar.
