Ryan Crowe is a journalist, a passionate advocate, and a ‘lived experience expert’ in the bleeding disorders community all rolled into one. His journalism career has taken him to places he would have never believed possible, working for Radio and Television stations (and one daily newspaper) across Texas, New Mexico and Colorado in a 25-year career that started in the late 1990s while a student at Baylor University. Ryan broke a story at Super Bowl XLV, scored two points at the 2019 Men’s Final Four, spoke on BBC Radio and once appeared on Japanese television.
Ryan, who lives with Factor IX deficiency (Hemophilia B), is a longtime volunteer in the community, serving twice as President of Texas Central Bleeding Disorders. He is also no stranger to HFA, serving as Second Vice President of the board from 2011 to 2013.
His political advocacy is where Ryan truly found his voice in the community. It has taken him to state capitols in Denver, Austin, the Roundhouse in Santa Fe and Capitol Hill in Washington to fight for people with bleeding disorders. His first trips to Washington were during the days of the Affordable Care Act, walking the halls to eliminate lifetime caps and sharing his story of losing insurance just days after graduating college. His 2023 testimony on behalf of the Texas Bleeding Disorders Coalition was key evidence in the passage of HB 999, the Texas Copay Accumulator Ban.
Ryan was honored as Texas Central’s Advocate of the Year in 2024. He was then honored with the Loras Goedken Leadership Award from the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation in 2025. But his proudest achievement in his healthcare journey will be celebrated in 2027, as he will mark 20 years since clearing Hepatitis C.
Ryan lives in Floydada, Texas, “Pumpkin Capital USA!” with his wife Rebekah, a college professor, and their son Wesley.
