FIRST VIRTUAL
SYMPOSIUM
BRINGS FAMILY
TOGETHER AGAIN
When Hemophilia Federation
of America choose the theme
for its 2020 Symposium —
Charting Our Future — it was
a play on the nautical history
of Baltimore, the city where
the annual educational event
was to be held. The theme
also emphasized HFA’s goal
of improving the quality of
life for the community now
while always looking
into the future. But
as Symposium
approached, the shift
in sails that would
need to take place to
bring our community
together quickly shifted
from an in-person event to
a unique virtual experience.
The online conference allowed community
members to receive the educational
content they’ve come to expect from Symposium, tapping into the expertise
of speakers often found at the in-person version. Community members also
had the opportunity to visit partners in the virtual Exhibit Hall and give a
“virtual hug” to their friends with chat features.
