Each year, at the HFA Symposium, we recognize the tremendous volunteerism in the bleeding disorders community. The Michael Davon Community Service award is for extraordinary service to the community via one’s national or global volunteerism and charitable giving.
Michael Davon was a New Englander who was integral to the inception of HFA. He was described as a man of extraordinary vision and compassion.  He offered infected community members the opportunity to find that unique solidarity that comes with a shared condition. HFA was the beneficiary of his quiet philanthropy and financial support.
The 2017 awardee is the perfect embodiment of the values celebrated by the Michael Davon Community Award. As a founding board member of her local bleeding disorders organization, this lovely lady has dedicated herself to service for local families. She is a nurse and her husband is a NYC firefighter. Their son is their true inspiration and his struggles with an inhibitor have driven them to accomplish incredible things for our community. Each year she and her family host a benefit in honor of their son that brings together 400 people and raises thousands for their local chapter. She does this to raise funds and raise awareness, because she understands the beauty and power of community. We are excited to honor Kelly Ambrosio for her commitment to building awareness and community.
